Located at Akwanga town in Akwanga Local Government Area of Nasarawa State and popularly known as College of Education, Akwanga, the Nasarawa State College of Education, Akwanga is one of the best colleges of education in Nigeria.

COEAkwanga started as the Advanced Teachers College, Akwanga (ATCA) in September 1976, by Plateau State edict No. 5 in 1978.

The Advanced Teachers College started its operations at a temporary site in Jos town with a campus in Akwanga. On September 1, 1985, it moved from Jos to its permanent location in Akwanga.

Core Objectives of The College of Education, Akwanga (COEAkwanga)

The core objectives of the institution were to:

1. Offer courses leading to the Nigeria Certificate in Education through three-year academic and professional training.

On completing the course, candidates qualify as teachers in primary, secondary and teachers training colleges.

2. Act as a centre for research into the various areas of educational theories and practices.

3. Mount from time to time-in-service vacation courses for serving teachers.

College of Education, Akwanga – Cut Off Mark for Admission

  • The COE Akwanga minimum cut off mark to be considered for admission is a 120 UTME score.

College of Education, Akwanga – School Fees

Currently, the College of Education Akwanga, COEAkwanga school fees for a fresh student are between 25,000 and 35,000 Naira per session exclusive of the Acceptance fee.

However, students are advised to budget at least 45,000-50,000.

Who is Eligible to Apply

Two main criteria determine if an aspirant is eligible to apply for the COEAkwanga admission.

i) Candidates who scored 120 and above in the UTME Examination and choose COEAkwanga as their First Choice.

ii) Candidates who choose the College as Second, Third and Fourth choices are hereby informed that they have to apply for Change of Institution; making College of Education, Akwanga their 1st Choice.

Admission Requirements/Documents at COEAkwanga

The following documents are essential for admission into any programme at COEAkwanga.

1. Original copy of JAMB admission letter.

2. O’Level result.

Note: Candidates applying for admission into COEAkwanga must have a minimum of 5 credit passes in Mathematics and English and other relevant subjects related to his or her course of study in not more than two sittings.

3. Original and photocopies of candidate’s JAMB result slip

4. Original and photocopies of your birth certificate or age declaration.

5. Coloured copies of your recent passport.
