To create a PSN account, sign up on the PlayStation App, the playstation.com sign-up page, or directly on a PS5 or PS4. You need an email address, a date of birth (you must be at least 7), a country/region (this locks the PlayStation Store currency and library you can buy from), and a password. Verify the email, turn on two-factor authentication, and the account is live across the PSN, the PS Store, PlayStation Plus, and the cloud library.

Before you start: what to have ready

• Email address you control. One PSN account per email. Use a real address — verification email and password resets go there.

Creating a PSN account from Nigeria

Nigeria is not on the country list when you sign up. Sony runs PSN in a fixed set of countries and, in Africa, only South Africa has an official PlayStation Store. What Nigerian players do instead:

1. Choose United States (the biggest store, and the region most Nigerian gift-card sellers stock) or United Kingdom. The choice is permanent for that account.
2. Fund the wallet with PlayStation Store gift cards for that region, bought from Nigerian resellers (Jumia, Konga and gift-card shops). Most naira debit cards are declined on the US and UK stores, and a card that works today can be blocked next month.

Method 1: Create a PSN account on the PlayStation App (fastest)

Method 3: Create a PSN account on PS5

Creating a child account (under 18)

Children aged 7–17 cannot create a stand-alone PSN account. A parent or guardian — the family manager, who must be 18+ — adds them under Family Management:

1. Sign in to the parent’s PSN account on PS5 or at playstation.com/acct/family/manage.
2. Pick Add Family Member → Add a Child.
3. Enter the child’s name, date of birth, and create their email and password.
4. Approve account-level permissions: spending limits, communication, screen time, age-rated content.
