Aso Rock Presidential Villa | History, Pictures and Location.

The Aso Rock Presidential Villa is in Nigeria’s Federal Capital Territory. The Presidential Villa, named after the 936-foot granite Aso Rock, is an edifice in which the President of Nigeria works and lives.

It is nicknamed the villa or statehouse. It boasts of security facilities that cannot be matched on the entire continent.

About Aso Rock

The construction of the exquisitely furnished residence began in 1980 and was completed in 1991, according to the Nigerian government website. When Babangida moved into the Aso Rock Presidential Villa at the end of 1991, he was the first occupant.

The vice president does not live in Aso Rock, but rather in Aguda House, a building that has previously hosted some powerful foreign guests.

Presidents Who Have lived in The Presidential Villa

The Presidential Villa has housed a total of seven Nigerian leaders, including Muhammadu Buhari who began living there in 2015.

Features of The Presidential Villa

  • The ‘Aso Rock’ houses three powerful Nigerian offices, also known as the Three Arms Zone i.e. Presidential Villa, National Assembly, and the Supreme Court
  • The Aso Rock, during pre-modern times, protects the original occupants of Gbagyi from external attacks.
  • Aso rock means ‘People of Victory’.
