Candidates are to follow the steps below to check their 2023/2024 WAEC Results.
- Buy WAEC scratch cards from any bank, Post Office, Authorised Dealer or WAEC office nearest you.
- Go to the WAEC result checker portal at www.waecdirect.org.
- In the required fields, provide your Exam Number. Your registration should look like this: 4310963***.
- Type in the year you sat for the exams (2025)
- Select the exam type (May/June).
- Enter your serial number and PIN as needed.
- Wait for your 2025 WAEC results for May and June candidates by clicking the ‘Check Button.’
How to Check Your WAEC Result on a Mobile Phone.
What of those without access to the internet? Is there no way for them to check the results? I’m glad you asked.
And there is a simple solution for that: it’s the WAEC Result SMS option. It works via text messaging.
Here is how it works:
To check your WAEC result with a mobile phone, you must buy the WAEC Direct Scratch card (the price is about N500). Then send a short code in the format below.
“WAEC*ExamNo*PIN*ExamYear to 32327″.
Your 2017 WAEC Examination number is 78965432, your PIN is 123890, and you sat for WAEC in 2025; send WAEC*78965432*123890*2017 to 32327.
Checking the 2017 WAEC results via SMS costs N30 and is only available on Glo, Airtel, and MTN networks.

Troubleshooting Common WAEC Result Issues
1. PIN or Serial Number Not Correct
This is a very common issue candidates encounter, resulting from inputting the wrong PIN or serial number.
How to Resolve:
Ensure you have the correct PIN and serial number before trying to access the results. The digits you are to input must match exactly how they are printed on the scratch card or e-PIN voucher you bought. If you think the PIN or serial number is not correct, buy a new e-PIN voucher.
2. Network error
Slow network connectivity can be very consequential. This can cause difficulties when trying to access your results online, particularly at peak periods.
How to Resolve:
Try accessing your results at times when there’s less traffic on the WAEC website. You can even change to another network connection. If your network is sluggish, try using Wi-Fi. If the issue still occurs, try again after a few minutes.
3. Using an Unsupported Network Provider for SMS
At the moment, only MTN, GLO, and Airtel users can use the SMS method to access their WAEC results. If you utilise a different network provider, it will result in failure.
How to Resolve:
If you’re using a network provider other than MTN, GLO, or Airtel, you won’t be able to check your results via SMS. In this case, you’ll need to check your results online through the WAEC portal or switch to a supported SIM card temporarily to use the SMS method.
4. Incorrect Examination Number
Inputting an incorrect examination number will definitely lead to errors when checking your WAEC result.
How to Resolve:
When you input your examination number, ensure it is accurate, just like the way it is on your exam slip. If you’re not sure about your examination number, check your WAEC slip. If there is still an error, contact your school or WAEC for assistance.

How does WAEC ensure standardisation in grading?
A panel of experts first prepares a marking guide. A mock marking exercise, known as coordination trains, all newly appointed examiners in all facets of the grading system.
The marking process does not begin until the coordinating officer is confident that all examiners know their responsibilities. Even when the marking process starts, the examiners are not left completely alone.
They are divided into small teams, each overseen by a remarkably knowledgeable examiner known as a Team Leader. The Team Leader reviews each group member’s marking and ensures they adhere to the regulations.
The Team Leaders are overseen by Chief Examiners, who are more seasoned. Even after the marking is completed, WAEC hires an additional workforce known as Checkers.
