The 2026 Junior WAEC (BECE) timetable for JSS3 candidates is out. NECO has already held the national BECE (20–30 April 2026). Lagos State ran its own BECE from 29 June to 7 July 2026 — the full Lagos schedule is below.
The Junior WAEC examination — formally the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) — is the gateway from Junior Secondary School 3 (JSS3) to Senior Secondary School 1 (SSS1). This page lists the official 2026 Lagos State BECE timetable, plus a link to the national NECO timetable.
About the Junior WAEC (BECE) Examination
The BECE is administered separately by NECO and by individual State Ministries of Education. Key facts:
- NECO BECE — for Federal Unity Colleges, Armed Forces Secondary Schools and other federal institutions.
- State BECE — each state ministry of education conducts its own BECE for public secondary schools in the state.
- Private and mission schools may sit either exam with the relevant state ministry’s approval.
- Candidates take a minimum of 10 and a maximum of 13 subjects.
- The BECE certificate is the first school-leaving certificate in Nigeria.

Lagos State BECE Timetable 2026
The Lagos State Examinations Board held the 2026 BECE for public junior secondary schools from Monday, 29 June 2026 to Monday, 6 July 2026. Papers first set for Wednesday, 1 July were moved to Tuesday, 7 July 2026 after the Oro Festival was declared in parts of Ikorodu, extending the exam to 7 July.

Important Instructions for All BECE Candidates
- Where the time on the question paper differs from the timetable, the time on the question paper takes precedence.
- Practicals in Business Studies and Basic Science & Technology may be conducted in sets when candidate numbers are large or equipment is fixed. Practicals must finish by 5:00 pm.
- Albino and blind candidates are entitled to 30 minutes extra time in every subject.
- Blind candidates must use the NECO-supplied OBR Customised Braille Sheet.
- Every candidate must carry a photocard for identification on each exam day.
- STRICTLY PROHIBITED in the examination hall: programmable calculators, mobile phones, iPads, tablets, smartwatches, smart glasses, smart pens and any other electronic communication devices.
BECE Resit Timetable
NECO released the 2026 BECE results in late June 2026 and held a resit for candidates with conditional passes: English Studies on Wednesday, 22 July 2026 and Mathematics on Thursday, 23 July 2026. Re-sit results appear on results.neco.gov.ng once processed — see how to check your result.
Other State BECE Timetables
We publish only the NECO and Lagos State 2026 timetables here, as these are the most widely consulted. For other states (Delta, Rivers, Kano, Edo, Oyo, FCT etc.), contact your State BECE / Examination Board office directly — each state sets its own dates within the second or third quarter of the year.
