About the Port Harcourt International Airport

Located in Omagwa, a suburb of Port Harcourt, the capital city of Rivers State in Nigeria, the Port Harcourt International Airport (IATA: PHC, ICAO: DNPO) is an international airport with two terminals for both international and domestic flights.

The airport was rated the third-busiest airport in Nigeria in 2009 because it served 1,081,587 passengers that year.

However, the airport has continued to experience rapid growth since then. Its new international terminal was commissioned on October 25, 2018, by Muhammadu Buhari, then executive president of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

Also, the Port Harcourt non-directional beacon (Ident: PR) and VOR-DME (Ident: POT) are located on the field.

The Port Harcourt International Airport plays a key part in Nigeria’s economy.

Moreover, the International Airport allows direct air connections between the nation and prominent global locations, particularly to and from Western nations. The reason for this is its strategic location in Port Harcourt, the hub of Nigeria’s oil and gas sector.
