Popular Nigerian Gospel Minister Steve Crown Uche Okolo was born on September 27, 1990, into an Anglican family. Steve Crown is from the Igede district of Obi Local Government Area in Benue State, Nigeria. The Abuja-born superstar has 5 siblings, one of whom, incidentally, is his manager. The vibrant and handsome Nigerian singer, music maker, and music director became famous after his gospel song titled “You are great” was released. CHRISTIAN LIFE:
The Bible instructed us to train up our Children in the right way they should go and Steve Crown was properly trained in the way of the LORD as he got born again at the age of nine being led to Christ by His biological Father. What a great move by a legendary father. Steve Crown was raised in a family of six in Abuja, Federal Capital Territory. And he is a product of quality intentional parenting.
EDUCATION
For most Nigerian Kids growing up; they usually want to become a Medical Doctor or a Barrister or an Engineer or a Nurse; for many kids these are the only existing professions. Steve Crown has also wanted to become a Barrister, he has a National diploma in Law from the University of Abuja. He proceeded to Federal Polytechnic Kaura Namoda in Zamfara State, North Western Nigeria where he studied Office Management and Technology.
MUSIC CAREER
Most Anglicans from time immemorial are known for singing hymns and praising God, so for Steve Crown he grew up in an atmosphere of praise and worship; in his words “I grew up to see my parents in the music world”. Being born into an Orthodox Church where worship and devotion to God Almighty is prioritised, music became a lifestyle for Steve Crown. Though he wasn’t looking forward to a career in music, his passion for music grew rapidly, making the Gospel Artist to join the Church choir(Saint John’s Anglican Church) at a tender age, precisely at the age of 8. He also joined the Deacon Kids Band. Today, Steve Crown is a full time Music Minister.
RECORD LABEL AND FOUNDATION
Steve Crown’s own record label is the Lakelight Entertainment, a platform he set up in order to serve as a springboard that will shoot upcoming artists to enviable heights. The record label is dedicated to nurturing, uplifting, mentoring and providing guidance to aspiring artists to actualise their dreams. Lakelight Entertainment is actually more than a record label, in that it is saddled with the vision and mission of discovering talents, listening to artists and helping them to create a positive impact in the society.
In addition to the record label, Steve Crown has a foundation which gave birth to the NAWIRAS(Nations Will Rise And Sing) concert; the maiden edition of NAWIRAS Concert took place on October 22, 2017 in Abuja. Since then, the concert has witnessed a massive gathering of people from around the world including Gospel Ministers and Preachers of the Gospel.

When asked by SAM EYOBOKA, where did you get the inspiration to write those songs? Steve Crown acknowledges the Holy Spirit as the source of his inspiration. In his own words he said “From the Holy Spirit. I could be in the gym or in a dream where I am leading a choir and the lines will begin to drop, when I wake up and pen them down. Some come through personal and other people’s experiences. That’s how God has been giving me lyrics.”

HIS ROLE MODELS
I was in a Church service when the pastor asked us to pray specifically that we want our children to be like us. Over 95% of the attendants were silent; the Pastor now told us that we refused to pray because we don’t want our children to be like us-meaning that we are not good role models. For Steve Crown, his primary role model happens to be his Biological Father, he(Steve Crown) said “My first role model is my father, he is a very peaceful man who loves to pursue things and get them done and I have learnt a lot from him. I have learnt to take life as it comes and I have also learnt to love God because he is a very strong believer.” The Gospel Artist also has his mum and a host of others as role models notable amongst them are Pastor Mike Nwanegbo, Pastor Joshua Talena, Pastor Benny Hinn, Don Moen, all gospel music ministers in Nigeria.

DEALING WITH DISTRACTIONS AND WOMEN
Some of the major challenges facing most celebrities, is distraction and Women and Steve Crown is not an exception. The sensational music minister is handsome, talented and famous; so distractions from the female folks are inevitable; he even said in 2016 while responding to questions in an interview with THE Sun Newspaper “I need a wife to be shielded from some of these distractions, because they do confront me”. Steve Crown acknowledges the fact that when a person is endowed with amazing potentials, he/she becomes a centre of focus and it’s difficult to run away from it. He maintained personal discipline in dealing with female fans and also relied on the grace of God. Till date, he remained focused in pursuing his dreams.

Steve Crown is among the popular musicians who like to appear in attire that reflects the African Continent, he once said “I am a Nigerian and I like to represent Nigeria and African blood.” He also likes to appear in corporate wear as well as all-white attires since according to him it’s heavenly, mature, acceptable, pure and modest.
