Airtel TalkMore Plans, Bundles and Subscription Codes

Updated14 August 2026
Reading time3 minutes

Airtel TalkMore is now a minutes bundle: ₦100 buys 10 minutes of calls to any Nigerian network, up to ₦1,500 for 150 minutes — a flat ₦10 per minute. Dial *234*1# to buy and *234*8# to check your balance. Unused minutes roll over when you renew before expiry. The old TalkMore 5x airtime multiplier (and its *123*5# balance code) has been retired.

This guide covers the current TalkMore price list, the codes to buy and check balance, what the minutes cost per second, and how TalkMore compares with Airtel’s tariff plans. Details checked August 2026 against Airtel’s TalkMore page.

Airtel TalkMore bundle prices and codes

Price Minutes Validity How to buy
₦100 10 mins 1 day *234*1#
₦200 20 mins 3 days *234*1#
₦300 30 mins 5 days *234*1#
₦500 50 mins 7 days *234*1#
₦1,000 100 mins 14 days *234*1#
₦1,500 150 mins 30 days *234*1#

Every bundle is bought from the same *234*1# menu — pick the denomination there. Airtel’s own FAQ shows slightly longer validities for some bundles, so treat the confirmation screen as final.

How to check your TalkMore balance

Dial *234*8#. The old *123*5# code belonged to the retired TalkMore 5x and no longer returns a bundle balance.

What is the TalkMore call rate?

Minutes work out at ₦10 per minute — about 16.7 kobo per second, Airtel’s own figure. That is a third cheaper than the standard 25k/sec rate, though still above SmartTRYBE’s 13k/sec.

  • Calls: any Nigerian network, billed from your minutes.
  • SMS: not included — ₦20 per SMS charged separately.
  • Data: not included. TalkMore is voice-only; buy data bundles via *312#.
  • International calls: billed from your main account at standard rates.

What changed from TalkMore 5x?

If you knew the old TalkMore, almost everything is different:

  • Value model: the 5x airtime multiplier (₦60–₦3,000 bundles of ringfenced credit) became fixed blocks of call minutes.
  • Balance code: *123*5# → *234*8#.
  • Scope: old TalkMore credit covered calls, SMS and browsing; the new bundles are calls only.
  • Expiry: old credit was forfeited at expiry; new minutes roll over if you renew before the bundle expires.

TalkMore vs Airtel’s published tariff plans

Plan Call rate Migration code Best for
SmartTRYBE 13k/sec *412# Cheapest per-second calls
TalkMore bundle ₦10/min (16.7k/sec) *234*1# — works on any plan Predictable call volume, rollover
SmartCONNECT 25k/sec Default on new SIMs 8X recharge bonus (first 90 days)

Bottom line: you do not migrate for TalkMore — it stacks on any tariff plan. Pair it with SmartTRYBE and calls beyond your minutes still bill at the cheapest per-second rate. Full rate breakdown: Airtel tariff plans and call rates.

TalkMore terms worth knowing

  • Open to all Airtel customers, prepaid and postpaid.
  • You can hold several bundles at once; they run concurrently and adopt the validity of the latest purchase.
  • Minutes are used before main airtime for national calls.
  • Rollover only applies when you buy the next bundle before the current one expires.

FAQs

Which Airtel tariff is best for calls?

SmartTRYBE (13k/sec via *412#) for open-ended calling. TalkMore if your call time is predictable — ₦10/min with rollover. SmartCONNECT if you just bought the SIM and want the 8X bonus.

Can I use TalkMore for data?

No. The current TalkMore bundles are calls only. Buy a data plan with *312# — see Airtel data plan codes and prices.

How do I migrate to TalkMore?

You don’t. TalkMore is a bundle that works on any Airtel tariff plan. Dial *234*1# and pick a denomination.

Do unused TalkMore minutes roll over?

Yes — if you buy another bundle before the current one expires. Let it lapse and the minutes are gone.
