Post UTME Past Questions

2026/2027 season, as of 28 July 2026: screening registration is open at most federal universities. OAU closes 14 August, UNILAG’s O’Level upload deadline is 14 August, and UNIOSUN closes 17 September. UNILAG has already run its online test. Windows and fees are in the table below.

Post-UTME is the screening Nigerian universities run after JAMB to decide who they admit. Your JAMB score gets you on the shortlist. Your Post-UTME score, plus O’Level grades, decides if you make the cut.

What Post-UTME Means in 2026

After JAMB releases UTME results, each university screens candidates who picked it as first choice. Schools use one of three formats:

• Computer-Based Test (CBT): 40 to 60 multiple-choice questions from your UTME subject combination. You get 60 to 90 minutes. UNILAG, UNILORIN, OOU, UI and most federal universities use this.
• Online aptitude test: A timed test you take from home. UNILAG ran its 2026/2027 screening online from 27 to 31 July 2026, with mock sittings beforehand so candidates could practise the interface.
• Aggregate-only screening: No test. The school combines your UTME and O’Level scores. Some state and private universities use this.

2026/2027 Post-UTME Windows, Fees and Cut-Offs

Each school runs its own window and publishes it on its own portal. Verified windows for three of the biggest:

Three rules apply almost everywhere this cycle:

• Upload your O’Level result to JAMB CAPS. No upload, no admission — schools now treat it as a precondition, not a formality. Do it even if your result came out late.
• You must have picked the school as first choice in the 2026 UTME, and usually scored 200 or more.
• Age 16 by 30 September 2026. UNILAG and UNIOSUN both state it. Underage candidates are screened out at documentation, not at the test.

Direct Entry candidates have separate deadlines — UNIOSUN wants transcripts with the Registrar by 4 September 2026.

Check your own school’s admission portal for its window rather than a blog. A window is effectively shut once the portal stops taking payment, whatever date is advertised.

How Universities Calculate Your Aggregate

There is no national formula. Each school sets its own. The three common splits:

• 50/50: JAMB scaled to 50, Post-UTME scaled to 50. Total out of 100.
• 60/40: JAMB weighs more than the school test.
• 50/30/20: JAMB 50, Post-UTME 30, O’Level 20. UI uses a version of this — divide your JAMB score by 8 and your Post-UTME score by 2.

Always check your target school’s admission portal for the exact formula before you sit the test.

UNILAG, UNILORIN, UI and OAU at a Glance

• UNILAG: Online aptitude test, sat 27–31 July 2026. Cut-off 200 in JAMB. Skipping the test disqualifies you. Five O’Level credits in one sitting, including English and Mathematics.
• UNILORIN: CBT screening. In 2026 UNILORIN opened a special Post-UTME for underage candidates who scored 320 and above.
• UI: CBT screening with a 50/30/20 aggregate split.
• OAU: Physical screening on campus, 1–5 September 2026, after a 16 June to 14 August registration window. Cut-off 200 in JAMB, and higher in practice for competitive faculties.

How to Prepare

1. Pull last 5 years of past questions for your target school. Patterns repeat.
2. Time yourself. If the test gives 60 minutes for 50 questions, that is 72 seconds per question. Practice at that speed.
3. Review your UTME subject combination. Post-UTME tests the same four subjects, often harder.
4. Read current affairs. Many schools include 5 to 10 general knowledge questions on Nigeria.
5. Sit a full mock the week before. Use a CBT app or website that mimics the real interface.

Stick to sources that publish verified papers. Avoid random WhatsApp PDFs — most are recycled and wrong.

FAQ

Do all Nigerian universities still hold Post-UTME?
No. Some state and private universities skip the test and use aggregate only. Federal universities mostly still test.

What is a good Post-UTME score?
70 and above out of 100 puts you in the safe zone for most courses. For Medicine, Law and Pharmacy, aim for 80+.

Is Post-UTME harder than JAMB?
The format is similar, but the time per question is shorter and the questions can be trickier. Speed matters more.

How much does the Post-UTME form cost?
The screening fee itself is usually ₦2,000, but most schools stack a portal or application charge on top: UNILAG charges ₦3,500 application plus ₦2,000 screening, and UNIOSUN charges ₦3,000 portal access plus ₦2,000 screening. OAU charges ₦2,000 plus payment-gateway charges. Budget ₦2,000 to ₦5,500 and pay only through the official portal.

Can I write Post-UTME for two schools?
Only if you change your first choice on JAMB to your second school first, and only one school screens you per cycle.

What happens if I fail Post-UTME?
You can apply for change of institution through JAMB or wait for the next admission cycle. Some schools also offer pre-degree or JUPEB programmes.
