The College of Nursing Science, Holy Rosary Hospital, Emekuku is a three-year Catholic nursing college in Owerri North, Imo State. You get in through the school’s own entrance examination and interview, not JAMB. You must have five O’level credits including English, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and Biology. What the school is actually called now

Three names chase this school around the internet, and the confusion costs applicants money.

On its own website the institution calls itself Holy Rosary Hospital Emekuku & School, and the nursing arm is the College of Nursing Science. On the Nursing and Midwifery Council register it appears as a College of Nursing Sciences. Most candidates, and most of Google, still call it the School of Nursing Emekuku.

It is not the Imo State School of Nursing. It is a Catholic institute organised by the Catholic Archdiocese of Owerri. Imo State runs its own nursing schools separately, with their own fees and their own forms. If a website tells you that you are applying to a state school here, that website has not checked.

School of Nursing Emekuku cut-off mark

The school does not publish a cut-off mark. Selection is by the entrance examination and the interview that follows it, and the pass mark moves with the strength of each year’s candidates and the number of places.

You will see the figure 160 quoted on several websites, presented as a JAMB score. The school’s own admission page says nothing about JAMB or about 160. Where a Nigerian college of nursing does run on JAMB, the national minimum for colleges of nursing sciences is 150, so treat the 160 figure as somebody’s guess about a different route until the school itself says so.

What this means in practice is simple. Prepare for the school’s entrance examination on English, Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry and Physics, and do not spend money on a JAMB form for this school without ringing the Academic Registry first.

School of Nursing Emekuku school fees

This is the question almost everybody arrives with, so here is the honest answer. The school does not publish a fee schedule on its website, and it has not published one for the 2026/2027 session. Nobody outside the Academic Registry and the accounts office can give you a reliable figure today.

That is not a reason to trust the numbers circulating online. It is a reason to distrust them. The figures on aggregator sites contradict each other, and none of them cite the school.

What you can plan for is the shape of the bill. A Nigerian mission nursing college normally charges these separately:

• Application form — paid before you sit the entrance examination
• Acceptance fee — paid only after you receive a provisional admission letter
• Tuition per session — the main cost, charged each of the three years
• Prospectus, uniforms and practical materials — usually collected at resumption
• Accommodation — where the school offers it, charged per session

On the form itself, this post previously carried these prices, which the school published for an earlier session: ₦15,500 for nursing, ₦15,000 for midwifery and ₦11,000 for medical laboratory science, each paid into a named bank account and the teller presented at the school’s account office. A separate report for the 2025/2026 session says forms then cost ₦7,500 for Basic Nursing and ₦8,500 for Post Basic Midwifery, collected through Remita at the Academic Registry.

Both cannot be current, and we could not confirm either with the school. Confirm the amount and the payment channel at the accounts office before you transfer anything, and read the warning about fake admission officers further down this page.

Admission requirements

The requirement the school states itself is the O’level one:

• Five credits in not more than two sittings
• The five must include English Language, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and Biology
• WAEC, NECO and NABTEB results are accepted. NABTEB is generally accepted in one sitting only

Beyond the certificates, candidates are expected to be medically fit, of good character, and ready to live by the rules of a mission institution. A health screening is part of the process.

On age, the school’s own admission page sets no limit. Other sites quote 18 to 35. That range is typical for Nigerian nursing colleges but it is not published by this school, so ask the Academic Registry if you fall outside it rather than ruling yourself out.

Schools and programmes at Holy Rosary Hospital Emekuku

The nursing college is one arm of a larger training institution. HRHSE lists these:

Midwifery is a post-basic route. You are expected to have completed nursing training at an approved school before you apply for it.

The hospital that hosts them runs a medical service department, a nursing service department, laboratory, pharmacy, a health care unit, the training schools, a mortuary and embalmment unit, and a kitchen unit. Your clinical postings happen inside these units, which is the practical argument for a hospital-based college over a standalone one.

How to buy the form and apply

Forms are not sold online. Every published account of this school’s process, including its own, has you at the school premises to buy the form. Plan a trip to Emekuku.

1. Go to the school’s account office, Monday to Friday, in the morning. The stated hours for form collection have been 8:00 am to 2:00 pm.
2. Pay the current form fee through the channel the accounts office names that day, and collect your official school receipt. Do not pay before you have confirmed the amount and the channel.
3. Collect your scratch card from the same office. It carries the admission registration number and PIN you will need next.
4. Go to hrhemekuku.com.ng/portal/ and log in with the admission registration number and PIN from that card. There is no self-service sign-up on the portal, so if a site tells you to create an account from home, it is describing a different school.
5. Fill your personal details, upload your passport photograph, then complete the contact and next-of-kin sections.
6. Enter your O’level results under general qualification, including the second sitting where you used two.
7. Midwifery applicants also complete the midwifery qualification, employment history and professional qualification sections.
8. Preview the application, submit it, then print your copy and keep it.

A note on the two web addresses, because this trips people up. The older address, hrhemekuku.com.ng, no longer shows a working homepage — its front page currently returns a bare file listing. The applicant portal underneath it at hrhemekuku.com.ng/portal/ is still live and is the one you log into. The school’s current public website is hrhsemekuku.com.ng.

What happens after the entrance examination

The school sets out this order, and knowing it protects you from anyone who offers to skip a step for a fee:

1. You sit the entrance examination and attend the interview. The school communicates these dates through its social media rather than by post.
2. Successful candidates receive a provisional admission letter.
3. You pay the acceptance fee and sign the acceptance letter, endorsed by a parent or guardian.
4. You collect the prospectus and pay the school fees.
5. You attend matriculation on the date given.

Provisional is the word to watch in step two. Nothing is settled until the acceptance fee is paid and your name is on the school’s own list.

Beware of fake admission officers

Search this school’s name and you will meet pages announcing that the 2026/2027 form is out, followed by a mobile number and a title such as school admin line or Dr Mrs Grace. Several different numbers appear across those pages, attached to the same claim.

The school does not publish any of them. Its own site lists one email address, emekukuson@yahoo.com, and directs candidates to the school premises.

Protect yourself with three rules. Pay at the accounts office and collect an official school receipt, never into a personal account. Treat any promise of admission without the entrance examination as a lie, because the interview and the exam are the process. And confirm any phone number against the school itself before you call it, not against a listing site that earns from your click.

How to prepare for the entrance examination

The exam follows the five subjects the school requires, so revise English, Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry and Physics at senior secondary level. Biology carries the most weight in most nursing entrance papers, and the human body systems are the reliable ground to cover first.

The school does not sell past questions, online or otherwise. Anyone offering you the real Emekuku entrance paper is selling you something they do not have. Work from your WAEC and NECO revision instead, which covers the same syllabus the exam is drawn from, and time yourself.

How much is the school fees at Emekuku?

Is the 2026/2027 form out?

The school announces form sales, entrance examination dates and interviews through its social media and at the school. There is no fixed annual closing date on record, which is why candidates who check in person in the middle of the year tend to catch it.

Does Emekuku offer a BSc in nursing?

Not on the NMCN register. The register lists Basic Nursing (RN) and Basic Midwifery (RM), the three-year professional route that makes you a registered nurse. A BNSc degree is a university programme, and nurses commonly take it later as a top-up.

Do I need JAMB for School of Nursing Emekuku?

The school lists O’level credits and its own entrance examination, and says nothing about JAMB. Confirm with the Academic Registry before buying a JAMB form on the strength of a blog post.
