People poke their friends or friends of friends on Facebook for many reasons (e.g., just saying hello, getting their attention). When you poke someone, they’ll receive a notification.

What is Facebook Poke?

Facebook poke is a simple, playful gesture that allows you to send a virtual notification to a friend. It’s like giving them a friendly nudge or a digital wave. Despite its name, a poke doesn’t carry any deep meaning—it’s more of a lighthearted interaction.
