About 9Mobile9mobile which was formerly known as Etisalat is one the leading telecom service providers in Nigeria that was established by the Emirates Telecommunication Group Company PSJC in 1976, serving as a joint-stock company for both the International Aeradio Limited and all its local partners.

In 2007, EMTS which is a Nigerian private limited liability company changed the acquired Etisalat name to “9mobile“. Furthermore, EMTS acquired a “Unified Access Service License” from the Nigerian Communications Commission in 2007.
The acquired license made it possible for EMTs to make provision for Digital Mobile Services, International Gateway Services, Fixed Telephony (wired or wireless), and National/Regional Long Distance Services being an added advantage to spectrum assignments 900 and 1800 MHz bands.
