How to Reset GOtv After Payment (GOtv Activation Guide)

Paid your GOtv but the channels are still locked? Send RESET <your IUC number> to 4688, or dial *288# and choose the fix-error option. Both clear the common E16 error in a minute. The full steps, plus what each error code means, are below.

When you pay while the decoder is on, GOtv usually reactivates on its own. If it doesn’t, you’ll see an error code and the box needs a reset. You can do it yourself in three ways, no call to support needed.

Where to find your IUC number

Your IUC (Identification User Code) is the decoder’s serial number. Find it on the orange or red sticker on the underside of the decoder, or dial *288# to see it on screen. You need it for every reset method below.

Reset GOtv by SMS

Text RESET followed by your IUC number to 4688. Example: RESET 1234567890.
Leave the decoder on and tuned to a GOtv channel.
Wait a few minutes for the channels to return.

Reset GOtv with *288# (no internet needed)

Dial *288# on any network.
Choose the Fix error / Clear error option from the menu.
Enter your IUC number if asked and confirm.

Dialling *288# also lets you check your balance, renew, or reach customer care.

Reset GOtv online (MyGOtv)

The old eazy.gotvafrica.com reset page is gone. Use the MyGOtv self-service portal instead:

Go to selfservice.gotvafrica.com or open the MyGOtv app (Android and iPhone).
Sign in with your IUC number and surname.
Open Clear Error, select your error code, and confirm the reset.

What GOtv error codes mean

E16 — you’re disconnected because the subscription lapsed, you’re on a channel above your package, or the decoder software is outdated. Pay, then reset.
E30 — no signal. The decoder has been off a long time, or the aerial or cable is loose. Check the connections, make sure the box is on, then reset.

How to get your channels back

If some channels are still missing after the reset, run a scan from your decoder’s Installation or Tuning menu (the exact path depends on your decoder model), then choose Automatic Scan. Don’t interrupt the scan while it runs.

How to pay your GOtv subscription

Pay through any of these before you reset:

MyGOtv app or selfservice.gotvafrica.com
Your bank’s USSD code or mobile app
Quickteller, VTpass, or other licensed payment platforms
A GOtv-authorised dealer near you

Tip: keep the decoder switched on while you pay. That alone prevents most activation errors.
