Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) Recruitment Guide

Updated1 July 2026
Reading time6 minutes

FRSC recruits when the Police Service Commission gives the green light and the Corps Marshal opens the portal at recruitment.frsc.gov.ng. There is no open cycle as of today. The last large intake was advertised in 2024, after which the Corps publicly stated it was not recruiting and warned the public about scammers issuing fake call-up letters. To apply when the next window opens, you must be a Nigerian citizen aged 18–30 (35 for medical doctors), meet the height and fitness rules, and hold the right SSCE, ND, NCE, HND, or degree for the cadre.

Is FRSC recruitment open right now?

No. The FRSC told the public in August through its Corps Public Education Officer, Assistant Corps Marshal Olusegun Ogungbemide, that no recruitment is ongoing and that fraudsters were circulating fake call-up letters and shortlists. The Corps reaffirmed that any genuine intake is advertised in national newspapers, on television, and on its official channels first.

Who can apply for FRSC recruitment?

The general rules below have stayed consistent across FRSC intakes. The Corps publishes the exact cut-offs again in each advert, so check them when the portal reopens.

  • Nigerian citizen by birth.
  • Aged 18–30 at the time of application. Medical doctors may apply up to age 35.
  • Single.
  • Minimum height: 1.68 m (male), 1.63 m (female).
  • Chest measurement (men only): minimum 0.87 m fully expanded.
  • Physically and mentally fit for paramilitary duty.
  • Medical fitness certificate from a government hospital.
  • No criminal record. No financial embarrassment.
  • Computer literacy and a valid driver’s licence are an advantage.

Multiple applications lead to automatic disqualification. The Corps does not charge any application fee.

What positions does FRSC recruit for?

FRSC fills four cadres. Match your highest qualification to the right cadre before you apply.

Road Marshal Assistant (RMA) cadre

  • RMA II: SSCE (WAEC/NECO/NABTEB) with at least passes in two subjects, including English and Mathematics.
  • RMA III: SSCE (WAEC/NECO/NABTEB) with three credits, including a credit in English.
  • Artisans and tradesmen (drivers, mechanics, riders, computer operators, electricians, plumbers, tailors, instrumentalists): minimum of four SSCE passes plus a trade test or relevant professional certificate. Drivers and riders need the correct class of licence.

Marshal Inspector (MI) cadre

  • MI I: HND in a relevant discipline + NYSC discharge or exemption certificate. Result statement not older than five years.
  • MI II: NCE in a relevant discipline, or Registered Nurse/Midwife (RN/RM). Result statement not older than five years.
  • MI III: National Diploma in a relevant discipline, or ND in Community Health Extension Work. Result statement not older than five years.

Officer cadre

  • Bachelor’s degree in Law, Nursing, Physiotherapy, Laboratory Science, Psychology, Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics, Insurance/Actuarial Science, Computer Science, ICT, Physical and Health Education, Accounting, Management Sciences, Environmental Sciences, Mass Communication, Social Sciences, or Humanities.
  • NYSC discharge or exemption certificate.

Officer (MBBS) cadre

  • MBBS from a recognised university.
  • NYSC discharge or exemption certificate.
  • Age limit raised to 35.

How do you apply for FRSC recruitment?

Applications are 100% online. There is no walk-in option and no paper form. When the portal opens:

  1. Visit recruitment.frsc.gov.ng — the only official application URL. Confirm the link in the advert on frsc.gov.ng before you enter any details.
  2. Create an account with a working email and phone number tied to your NIN.
  3. Fill the form once. Use your names exactly as they appear on your NIN and certificates. Duplicate entries are disqualified.

Federal Road Safety Recruitment

  1. Upload scans of your SSCE, ND/NCE/HND/degree, NYSC certificate, birth certificate or declaration of age, LGA certificate, passport photo, and a valid ID (NIN, driver’s licence, voter’s card, or international passport).
  2. Print the referee form and have it filled by your referees for the screening stage.
  3. Print the acknowledgement slip and keep it. You will need it at every later stage.

The application is free. If anyone asks for money to submit your form or to “help you pass,” it is a scam.

What are the stages of FRSC recruitment?

Past cycles have run in this order. Expect the next intake to follow the same pattern:

  1. Online application. The portal stays open for about four to six weeks.
  2. Shortlist for screening. Names are published on the portal. You print a screening slip.
  3. Physical and credential screening at the state command nearest to your state of origin. The Corps verifies your certificates, NIN, and physical measurements (height, chest, BMI).
  4. Aptitude test. A computer-based test set and administered by JAMB for the Corps. Topics cover English, Mathematics, current affairs, and basic reasoning.
  5. Drug test conducted with the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA).
  6. Final shortlist and training at the FRSC Academy, Udi (Enugu State), or one of the staff training schools.

How do you spot FRSC recruitment scams?

The Corps’ own warnings, repeated in 2024 and 2025, point to the same red flags. Treat any of these as a scam:

  • A “recruitment officer” asks you to pay for a form, screening slot, training place, or call-up letter.
  • A WhatsApp group or Facebook page claims to sell shortlist access.
  • A link that is not frsc.gov.ng or recruitment.frsc.gov.ng. Variants like frscrecruitment.com or frsc-jobs.ng are fake.
  • A call-up letter to a training school the Corps has not advertised.
  • A promise of guaranteed enlistment for a fee.

Report suspected scams to the nearest FRSC Command or to info@frsc.gov.ng.

What to do until the next FRSC cycle opens

Use the wait to fix the things that disqualify most applicants at screening: get your NIN sorted, retrieve a clean SSCE result, complete NYSC if you are degree-cadre, and pull a fresh medical fitness report. Check frsc.gov.ng for the next advert.
