To cancel your IMVU account, sign in, click your profile icon, and open Settings. Scroll to the Others section and click Delete Account. Choose Deactivate (recoverable for about 30 days) or Delete (permanent). Re-enter your login to confirm, then check your email. Cancel any VIP or subscription separately first, or app-store billing keeps charging you.

IMVU is a social network where you meet people and chat through 3-D avatars. You join with a Facebook account or email, build an avatar, and explore the 3-D world. Signup is free, but advanced features need credits, the platform’s virtual currency. When you’re done with the platform, you can deactivate the account for now or delete it for good.
Should you deactivate or delete your IMVU account?
Pick the option that matches how sure you are.
- Deactivate: Your profile and data are hidden, and you can’t log in. IMVU emails you a reactivation link that works for about 30 days. After that, the account may not be recoverable.
- Delete: Your personal data is erased and the account is gone. You get a few days to contact support if you change your mind, but recovery isn’t guaranteed.
Both options live in the same place. You choose which one you want during the steps below.
How do you cancel IMVU on the website?
- Sign in: Log in to your IMVU account with your username and password.
- Open Settings: Click your profile icon, then select Settings.
- Find Delete Account: Scroll down to the Others section and click Delete Account. (It’s under Others, not Privacy or Security.)
- Choose deactivate or delete: Select Deactivate Your Account or Delete Your Account, then click Next.
- Confirm your login: Re-enter your IMVU username and password to verify it’s you, then click Next. If two-factor authentication is on, enter your code here.
- Finish: Click Deactivate or Delete to confirm. Then check the email tied to your account for confirmation and any reactivation link.
How do you delete your IMVU account on mobile?
The IMVU app handles cancellation too, on iOS and Android.
- Open Settings: Tap the gear icon in the upper-right corner of the main menu.
- Tap Delete Account: Select Delete Account from the settings list.
- Choose your option: Pick Deactivate Your Account or Delete Your Account, then tap Next.
- Verify it’s you: Enter your IMVU login, tap Next, and add your two-factor code if you use one.
- Confirm: Tap Deactivate or Delete. To back out, tap Not Now.
Cancel your VIP or subscription first
Deleting your account does not stop a paid subscription. Cancel VIP or any plan on your own before you close the account.
- Cancel through the IMVU Subscriptions page on your account.
- If you bought VIP through the Apple App Store or Google Play, cancel it there. The app store bills you directly, and deleting your IMVU account won’t end that charge.
Common problems
- No Delete Account option: You’re likely looking under the wrong heading. It sits in the Others section of Settings.
- Still getting charged: Your subscription is separate. Cancel it on the Subscriptions page or in the app store where you bought it.
- Changed your mind: If you deactivated, use the email link within about 30 days. If you deleted, contact IMVU support fast, though recovery isn’t promised.
