Before we proceed, let’s take a look at?

What is Post UTME Exam?

The term “Post UTME” that you’ve heard all this while is an alternative and easy term for “Post Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination”.

This exam is to be taken by candidates who have written their jamb exam and met the cut-off point for their aspired university post-utme exam, which will come up some months or immediately after their JAMB exam before they gain admission.

You have to note that each university organizes and conducts its own Post UTME, but for a candidate to take this exam, they must have applied to the university.

NOTE: Even if you scored 500 in your JAMB exam but failed to apply for and write the Post UTME exam organized by your aspired institution, you’ll be denied admission, which means you will not be admitted.

7 Things to Note When Registering for Post UTME in 2022

1. Your Name Must Be Spelt Correctly

This is the number one, and most common mistake aspirants make when registering for post UTME. Spelling your name wrongly might be a very big problem on the day of your exam.

Post-UTME is not like JAMB, where you can correct your mistake after you have successfully registered. So you have to be very careful when registering online.

2. Use the Same Name you Used in Your Birth Cert., WAEC, JAMB

I have seen occasions where an aspirant use, for example,  “Akpan Samuel Gloria” in the WAEC registration and later uses” Gloria Akpan Samuel” in the JAMB registration.

This will be a very big problem for you either during your post-UTME registration or registration after admission.

Also,  you should arrange the name the same way it was in your birth cert. And other vital documents.

3. Input Your Correct O’level Result

This shouldn’t be new to aspirants; although it might be intentional or a mistake, on either side,  it is a big offence.

Many UNILORIN newly admitted students who were caught in the act were sent home after being admitted. I know you don’t want to be in that same situation,  then do the right thing.

4. Online Payment During the Registration of post UTME

This is sometimes a big problem for aspirants registering for the post UTME online because you will be asked to pay some fee for the registration. I will advise you to do this in a cybercafe where you know it is safe,  don’t take the risk of paying online with your smartphone.

I have received complaints from aspirants in the past about not receiving an RRR pin after the money has been deducted from your bank account, allowing you to pay twice. I know you don’t want that,  do you?

5. Register Early

It is not strange for some university’s post-UTME websites to slow down or malfunction when it is close to the deadline of post UTME registration. This is normally because of server overload. So to have a seamless, stress-free registration try registering as early as possible. It will also give you ample time to study and prepare for the university screening examination.

6. Understand the format of Post-UTME

Many universities and polytechnics adopt the document evaluation method of screening instead of examination. Universities like UNIUYO, and Landmark University, amongst others. Many other universities ( UNILAG, UI etc.) prefer post-UTME aspirants to write the preliminary examination to screen candidates.

You must be cautious enough to understand the post-UTME format to prepare accordingly.

7. Read the Instructions Before Registering Online

I will advise you to read the guidelines before registering to avoid any mistakes that can cost you your chance of being admitted this year. Be careful
