You should be aware that States in the same Geopolitical Zones cannot be selected at the same time. The country is divided into geo-political zones.

Here is all you need to know about picking a State to serve in.

NYSC Posting 2023

The NYSC board has added a new step to the registration process. Prospective Corps members can now choose at least four states from which to be deployed, albeit the board ultimately chooses one.

Here is a guide to determining your state of service:

You may select only four (4) states from the list below, one (1) from each of our six (6) geopolitical zones.

You can only choose four (4) states from the list below, one (1) from each of our (6) six zones.

Note: If you attended a university outside of your state of origin, you cannot choose your state of origin or state of graduating institution.

How to Choose Your Preferred NYSC State

As we said, you have the opportunity to choose a State of National Service from the Geopolitical Zones outlined above. Here is how to choose:

  • You must choose one State from North Central Zone
  • One State from either the North-East or North-West Zones
  • One State each from the South East and South-South  Zones
  • And then, you must choose one State from the South-West Zone.

Remember that from the four selected states, NYSC will deploy you to one of them at random, as determined by the NYSC system.

Note that it is not 100% guaranteed to be sent to any of the four States you choose. NYSC reserves the right to send you to any State in Nigeria.

For you to be able to get your preferred State, make sure you register early.
