Before you dispute anything, find out what the charge actually was:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Open Facebook and tap <strong>Menu<\/strong> (your profile picture in the top right).<\/li>\n<li>Tap <strong>Settings &amp; privacy \u2192 Settings<\/strong>, then <strong>See more in Accounts Center<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>Tap <strong>Meta Pay<\/strong>, then open <strong>Transactions<\/strong> and match the amount and date to your statement.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>You can also reach the same history on desktop: <strong>Menu \u2192 Orders and payments \u2192 Go to Meta Pay<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>The usual culprits, roughly in order of how often they surprise people:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Meta Verified<\/strong> \u2014 it renews automatically every month on your original purchase date until you cancel.<\/li>\n<li>A <strong>Marketplace order<\/strong> you checked out on Facebook.<\/li>\n<li>An <strong>in-app or game purchase<\/strong>, a donation, or a boosted post.<\/li>\n<li>A <strong>family member<\/strong> using a device where your card is saved.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>If none of those match, treat it as unauthorized: change your Facebook password, log out of unknown sessions, remove the card from Meta Pay, and report the transaction from the same Transactions screen.<\/p>\n<p>One warning before you call your bank: a chargeback against Meta can get the payment features on your account \u2014 and anything tied to it, like ad accounts \u2014 restricted. Try Meta&#8217;s own dispute path first. If you do go the card route, US law (the Fair Credit Billing Act) gives you 60 days from the statement date to dispute and caps your liability for unauthorized charges at $50.<\/p>\n<h2>Your payment keeps getting declined<\/h2>\n<p>Work down this list \u2014 the first two fix most declines:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Check that the billing address saved in Meta Pay matches your bank&#8217;s records exactly, down to the apartment number.<\/li>\n<li>Call your bank and ask if it is blocking &#8220;Meta&#8221; or &#8220;Facebook&#8221; transactions. It follows unusual activity, repeated disputes, or a policy flag. Open <strong>Accounts Center \u2192 Meta Pay<\/strong> and look for a notice explaining the restriction \u2014 complete any identity check it asks for, or use the support option on that screen to appeal. Reviews take days, not hours, so don&#8217;t re-add cards repeatedly in the meantime; it looks like more unusual activity.<\/p>\n<h2>You can&#8217;t send money to a friend<\/h2>\n<p>Person-to-person payments on Messenger only work in the US, both people must be 18 or older, and the money must come from a <strong>debit card or PayPal<\/strong> \u2014 credit cards work for shopping, not for sending money. If the option doesn&#8217;t appear at all, that&#8217;s almost always why. Most land within several business days, but banks can take up to 60 days in the worst case.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Meta Verified:<\/strong> cancelling stops the next renewal, but Meta does not give partial refunds for the unused part of a billing period. Cancel just before the renewal date if you&#8217;re leaving.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Marketplace:<\/strong> orders you paid for through Facebook checkout are covered by Purchase Protection \u2014 file the claim from the order page. Payments a seller moved off-platform (Zelle, gift cards, cash apps) are not covered, which is exactly why scammers push for them.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Meta Pay is missing from your settings<\/h2>\n<p>Meta Pay isn&#8217;t available in every country, and checkout features are US-centric.
