The feature helps users to restrict or hide their posts from some friends on Facebook.
This feature is called Facebook Restricted List. You should know the Facebook Restricted List has no limit on the number of friends you can add.
Although your friend will be restricted from viewing your Post, you can still chat and message him and vice versa. Their posts will be accessible to you on your newsfeed as normal.
The only difference is that your Facebook Friends on your restricted list will be barred from accessing your Post. You can restrict them via the privacy setting option for that specific Post.
This will exclude those from your restricted list from accessing that Post, but the Post will be viewed by friends who are not on your restricted list.
Let’s point the spotlight on how the Facebook restricted list is organized, and let’s see how one can add Facebook friends to the list. We will also show you how to create a post once you have included friends on the restricted Facebook list.
To add your Facebook friend to your Facebook restricted list, read the following tips:
1. Log in through your Facebook account or the Facebook mobile app; you can also use the Facebook official website using your desktop browser.
2. Visit the profile of the Facebook friend you want to include in your restricted list.
To find their name, you can use the search bar at the top of the Facebook app or website.
3. Once you’re on the friend’s Facebook profile, click on the “Friends” button.
4. Select “Edit Friends Lists” or “Add to Another List” from the pop-up or drop-down menu. If you’re using a smartphone app or the official Facebook website to do this, the text and menu patterns may differ a bit. That is not a problem; the functions remain unchanged.
5. Scroll to the bottom of the list of categories to find the one titled “Restricted.” It’s as easy as clicking on that specific one to add the friend to the Facebook Restricted list.
When You Add Friends to Your Facebook Restricted List, What Happens?
The Friends you add to the Restricted list will not be notified by Facebook, so they have no way of knowing you have included them in the restricted list.
Meanwhile, your Friends on the Facebook restricted list will continue to be your Facebook friends, and they will be able to send messages in your Facebook inbox or chat with you. They will still see your public posts, but the posts you have set to friends. (and not public) will be restricted to them
The “globe symbol” symbolizes public posts, while the icon that resembles two people identifies friends’ posts. As a result, if you make posts and set them to the public, your restricted friends will see them, but if you set them to friends, your restricted friends will not see them.
How to Use Post via the restricted list on Facebook
1. Make a new Facebook post after including any of your friends on your Restricted list.
2. Check that the Friends (people) icon is visible before publishing your message. If the Public (globe) icon appears instead, pick the Friend option from the drop-down menu.
3. Click ‘post’ after you are done creating your Post. Your Facebook friends can now see it, except those you’ve added to the Restricted list. From this point onwards, everyone on your Restricted list will be barred from seeing any posts you make for Friends.
