I forgot my Facebook password and email password. How can I log into Facebook?
That is a very technical and nice question. Well, let me start by saying that to log in to your Facebook account, you will need either of the following;
- Your email address
- Facebook username
- Full name
- Phone number
- And your password
But if you have forgotten your Facebook password, you can easily do a Facebook password reset. I will show you how to do that now.
Note that before you can access your account with your email address and username, you’ll need to link them to your Facebook account. For the sake of those who may wish to know, let me take you on how to add your username and email address to your Facebook account so you can always log in with them.
How to add your email or username to your Facebook account
To add your email to your Facebook account, do this;
- Click your profile picture in the top right of Facebook.
- Select Settings and Privacy, then click Settings.
- Click Contact in the General tab.
- Click Add another email address or mobile number, then enter your email address and click Add.
- You may be asked to re-enter your Facebook password. Enter your password and click Submit, then Close.
- When you add an email address to your account, we’ll send a confirmation email to your new email address. Click the link in your email to confirm that you want this email address added to your Facebook account.
- If the link in your email doesn’t work:
Copy the confirmation code sent to your email. - In the Contact section of your settings, click Confirm.
- Paste in your code and click OK.
- If the link in your email doesn’t work:
To add your email to your Facebook account, do this;
- Click (drop-down icon) in the top-right of any Facebook Page and select Settings.
- Click Username.
- Enter your new username and your password, then click Save Changes.
Note the username you entered is available; you’ll see it, and the box will be ticked with a green color. You’ll need to click on the Save Changes icon to save it.
Facebook will now assign you a URL containing your username.
The URL will look like this: “facebook/joeljoel” if joeljoel is your username.
Also, note that your friends can also search for you via your username. So make sure you use a username that you’re known by.
Forgotten Facebook Login Details?
Now, I forgot my Facebook login email and password; how can I log in to my Facebook account?
If you’ve forgotten your Facebook account login email and password details, here are the things you can do to recover your account.
- Click on this link: facebook.com/login/identify
- Next, follow the onscreen instructions to get that to your account.
Or:
- Go to facebook.com to open the Facebook login page.
- Click on the Forget Password link.
- Provide your username, email or phone number.
- Follow the onscreen instructions to have access to your account.
One vital thing you can do to access your Facebook account if you forget your login details is to use a computer or mobile phone that you have previously used to log in to your Facebook account. Once you get back into your account, you can reset your password.
You can also regain access to your Facebook account via trusted friends if you’ve forgotten your login details.
How to contact the friends you’ve chosen as trusted contacts to get back into your account.
Trusted contacts are no longer supported. This means that your chosen friends will no longer be able to help you get back on Facebook if you lose access to your account. Make sure that your email address and phone number are up to date in your account settings.
To get back to Facebook, if you forget your password and email, do a password reset, and you are good to go.
