Tupac Shakur Brief Biography

Tupac Shakur was born in the Upper Manhattan neighbourhood of East Harlemon on June 16, 1971.  Born Lesane Parish Crooks, he was renamed Tupac Amaru Shakur at the age of one. He was named after Tupac Amaru II, the last Incan emperor who was executed in Peru in 1781 following a failed revolt against Spanish power.

Tupac’s mother, Afeni Shakur, remarked, “I wanted him to be known as a revolutionary and an indigenous person in the world. I wanted him to understand that he was a member of world culture and not simply a local one.”

Shakur has an older stepbrother, Mopreme “Komani” Shakur, and a two-year-old half-sister, Sekyiwa Shakur.

The History of Tupac’s Birthday

Tupac Shakur, better known as 2Pac, Pac, and Makaveli, is a rap icon within the music industry and outside of it due to his poetic delivery of lyrics, persona, and view on life. His lyrics and rapping style resonated with an entire generation, and his music continues to affect and speak to people worldwide powerfully.

Tupac has been the subject of at least a dozen documentaries, including the Oscar-winning “Tupac: Resurrection,” he narrated. He started as a backup rapper and dancer for Digital Underground. In 1991, he made his first album, “2Pacalypse Now,” and put it out. He quickly became the talk of the town, and in 1992, Ernest Dickerson’s movie “Juice,” in which he starred, was praised for his performance within a year. Tupac had a big year, but he also got in trouble with the law. Still, his music career moved forward.

In 1994, he was almost as controversial as Snoop Dogg in the rap industry because he was in jail. Tupac became a victim of gangster rap and a tragic icon because he was killed when he had so much more to offer to the world, just like so many other people who died too soon.

Tupac released the double album “All Eyez on Me” in early 1996, and the album and its hit track “California Love” cemented his legendary status. However, Tupac had a sensitive side, apparent in his lyrics and singles like ‘Dear Mama.’ his experiences as a burglar aided him in preparing for his 1995 album “Me Against the World.”It was number one on the charts, but he could now be charged with exploitation. After a prison sentence, Suge Knight, C.E.O. of Death Row Records, bailed Tupac out for a three-record deal with him after nine months.

Unfortunately, the gangster-rapper lifestyle described in Tupac’s music quickly absorbed him and put his life in jeopardy. At the height of his popularity, he fought rival rapper Notorious B.I.G., and tensions between him and Death Row Records were rising.

Tupac was wounded numerous times in a drive-by shooting on September 7, 1996, after attending a boxing event at the M.G.M. Grand in Las Vegas. The animosity between the East Coast and West Coast hip-hop escalated. He died a few days later, on September 13, in the hospital.

Tupac’s death rocked the world, with hundreds of mourners gathering outside the hospital where he died, leaving behind an unrivalled legacy. The whole entertainment business was thrown into disarray, mainly because there were no leads in the case. Still, it was thought that Tupac’s death would put a stop to the East Coast/West Coast rivalry, but six months later, Notorious B.I.G. was slain in similar circumstances.

Following Tupac’s death, several posthumous albums were released, the most notable of which was “Don Killuminati” and “R U Still Down?” in 1996 and 1997, “Still I Rise” in 1999, “Until the End of Time” in 2001, and “Better Dayz” in 2002.
