How to Get Dubai Visa on Arrival


If you are visiting the United Arab Emirates, you will need to get a visa before you travel except if you are a citizen of a country that is suitable United Arab Emirates (Dubai) visa on arrival policy. For instance, if you are a citizen of a member country of the Gulf cooperation council ( Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar and Saudi Arabia). If you are in this category, you must hold a valid passport and a citizen’s ID.

How to Get Dubai Visa on Arrival

UAE Visa on Arrival for 30 days visit

For citizens of the countries listed below, they only need a passport(with at least six-month validity), and no other visa application is required for them to visit the United Arab Emirate. Once you arrive Dubai, head straight to the immigration desk, your passport will be stamped and authorised for a 30-day stay. You won’t be expected to pay a dime.

UAE Visa on Arrival for 90 days visit 

If you are a citizen of one of the countries listed below, you will be eligible for a visa on arrival for 90 days stay. You are expected to travel with your passport (with at least six months validity). If you are planning to stay more than 90 days, then apply for a visit visa before you travel. The 90 days stay visa on arrival policy is valid for six months.

Dubai immigration process

Because of the volatile security situation, the immigration officers at the Dubai Airport may randomly perform security checks on visitors. If you are asked to take part in an eye screening, show your visa on the counter. You will be charged if you do not have a copy of your visa.

Anyone who does not have the privilege of getting a visa-free entry or a visa on arrival will require an entry permit before coming into the UAE and someone to sponsor it.

A Dubai visa entry permit will be given to you, but it has to correctly reflect why you are visiting Dubai, whether it is for work, business, transit, short visit or tourism.

How do I get an entry permit?

Here are the steps in getting an entry permit into the United Arab Emirates:

  • For you to get an entry permit, you need a sponsor, who can be a citizen of the United Arab Emirate, a foreigner who has a residence permit in the United Arab Emirate,  an airline based in the United Arab Emirate, a hotel or tour agent based in the United Arab Emirates, any company in the emirate.
  • You must have an authentic passport, which has six months of validity, at least.
  • If you have been deported or banned from entering the United Arab Emirate, it means you are prohibited from making an entry into the country. You will need to get a special permit to make an entry.

It is noteworthy that tourists are barred from getting a job in the United Arab Emirates. Without a work permit or employment visa, foreigners are barred from working in the United Arab Emirate.
