Because Snapchat has made it clear that it does not want to be bought, Facebook has shamelessly replicated functionality from the app. The most audacious was the Poke app, which was created in 2012 and was effectively a copycat of Snapchat (not to be mistaken with the Poke activity, that used to be allowed on Facebook). However, it was only operational for two years before Facebook shut it down.
