How to Stop Receiving Unwanted SMS From MTN
The means of stopping unsolicited, spam, or unwanted messages from MTN is widely known as the MTN Do Not Disturb service.
To activate the “do not disturb” service, only text STOP to 2442 on your MTN line to opt-out from all third parties, promotional, and IVR messages.
Once this message is sent to the shortcode, the customer will no longer receive calls or notices.
Promotional Messages and Code to Stop Mtn Messages
Below is some information for customers who want to opt out of receiving some messages and still receive others.
- Text OUT to 2442 to receive all SMS and IVR messages
- To continue receiving SMS relating to banking, insurance, and financial products, send SMS 1 to 2442
- If you want to continue receiving messages relating to real estate, send SMS 2 to 2442
- To continue receiving SMS relating to education, send 3 to 2442
- SMS 4 to 2442 for receiving SMS relating to health
- If you want to continue receiving SMS relating to customer goods and automobiles, send SMS 5 to 2442
- To receive messages about communication, broadcasting, and entertainment, SMS 6 to 2442
- To receive messages relating to tourism and leisure, send 7 to 2442
- To receive SMS about sports, send 8 to 2442
- SMS 9 to 2442, to continue receiving text messages relating to religion
- To stop receiving all messages or enable full blocking mode by sending STOP to 2442,
- Send HELP to 2442 to see the list of applicable keywords, commands, and guides.
What happens after MTN Do Not Disturb Code Activation
Two things happen after you successfully activate the MTN do not disturb code:
Fully block mode
In this deactivation mode, you can opt out of promotional messages, spam short message service, or voice response.
Partially blocked mode
This deactivation package permits you to select the type of promotional messages you would still like to receive. It does not block you from receiving all promotional messages, in direct contrast to the full block mode.
Activating or deactivating the MTN do not disturb code on your mobile devices is entirely free. What you need is the major code to enable activation or deactivation.
What are the key features of DND?
Features of the service include:
Fully blocked mode lets customers opt out completely of getting promotional messages via SMS and IVR.
Partially Blocked mode lets customers filter service types for promotional messages they expect to receive. Any category that is not specified is blocked.
The service is available to customers at no cost.
Customers can opt for the service by inputting an SMS Keyword to the DND code 2442.
To opt in to total blocking mode via text messaging, the customer will send the keyword STOP to code 2442.
The system will add the customer’s phone number to the DO NOT DISTURB database and activate the complete blocking option on the customer’s profile after the consumer texts the keyword to 2442.
The customer gets an SMS notification after the DND opt-in process is complete, along with other SMS options, such as the DND web portal link.
“You have successfully activated the Do-Not-Disturb service on your line. Please visit https://mtnonline.com/donotdisturb or SMS HELP at 2442 to see more filtering options. You can also opt out at any time by sending ALL SMS to 2442.”
You will also get this Message if you opt to block all promotional SMS (total blocking mode).
